Helping families
one woman at a time…
Most people think of missionaries as those who serve
Christ in some remote foreign outpost, enduring hardships in the service
of the Lord. What about
missionary opportunities in our own community?
Our new ministry is a wonderful way to serve in the mission field
in our own neighborhoods, right here, right now.
There are many people right here in Lufkin and surrounding cities
that need to know the impact that Jesus’ teaching can have on our
everyday lives. You can join
us in experiencing all the many miracles God is helping us to achieve as
we plan and carry out our goal of helping women and their families.

Judge Paul WhiteJudge Paul White, Angelina County Drug Court Judge is a man of wisdom, not only to the people he serves but to our community. We are thankful to work with a man who represents his faith in the workplace so we have chosen him as our first community award recipient. He shows firmness, follows the law and uses his gift of discernment to make a difference in the lives of people who may not have another chance for a life without drugs or prison. Even though he is tough on offenders, by the time they graduate from Drug Court they understand his desire to make their lives better. He works avidly to provide an alternate lifestyle that directs his clients to a life of faith and hope. |
A Special Volunteer, Rose SherrardRose is our computer coordinator and her unique talent has helped make our computer instruction some of the best offered anywhere. Betty McGee, a retired computer teacher, wrote our original lessons. Thus, our curriculum is the product of two women who enjoy using their special talents to serve others. Rose, through her personal initiative is an example of how a true leader works. She has led the volunteers in re-evaluating all the lesson plans and updating them into individual self contained lessons so that each program participant can work at their own speed and ability. Rose spends considerable personal time training, scheduling and encouraging all the volunteer computer instructors and is an example of how great things can be accomplished with team work. What a blessing God has brought to us in the willing and able heart of Rose Sherrard! She is also part of the Ministry team, a prayer warrior and a continuing inspiration to us all. We are thankful that she answered the call to service and is at The Mosaic Center. |

The Emily Shelton Award, Volunteer of the Year, 2007The Emily Shelton Award was created to recognize one exceptional person a year. This award is based on the scripture of the virtuous woman and modeled after Emily Shelton, a founding board member whose character and godliness is an example to all. Bobbie Seale is the recipient of this year’s award. Bobbie has served as a mentor for the first two classes and enjoys being part of our mission. When she wanted to volunteer for a third time as a mentor, we wanted her to commit time in the center helping with all the women. She likes mentoring all the women, so she has become a House Mom. She is a true friend and encourager for all our students and volunteers. Bobbie has found a place to give and in that place has received love and blessings. She serves the Lord with gladness and goes beyond the call of duty in so many ways. |
“Give, and it will be given to you. A good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over, will be poured into your lap. For with the measure you use, it will be measured to you." Luke 6:38
