Our Story: A Vision That Still Grows
In 2003, God placed a bold vision on the hearts of a few Lufkin women — a place where women could find hope, education, and the tools to build a better future.
Inspired by a visit to the Christian Women’s Job Corps Program in Tyler, these women, now known as “The Mothers of The Mosaic,” began praying, planning, and preparing for what would become The Mosaic Center, Inc.
The dream quickly took root. In 2004, a house was donated for the ministry, and volunteers rolled up their sleeves to restore it.
Just one year later, in the fall of 2005, The Mosaic Center opened its doors to its first class — eight women who courageously completed the 11-week program.
God’s blessings didn’t stop there. In 2007,
the historic Denman Home
in downtown Lufkin was donated. After renovations, The Mosaic Center moved into its permanent home in 2008. That same year, we were honored with the Governor’s State Award, One Star, for Community Encourager.
Over the years, our programs expanded and class sizes grew. We developed in-house programs
to meet the needs of our community, including English as a Second Language (ESL)
and Parenting Engage Classes, both designed to strengthen families and empower women.
Now, as we enter our 21st year of ministry, our mission remains the same: to equip women with the skills, confidence, and hope they need to thrive.
We offer two 12-week Core Programs
each year — spring and fall — serving up to 24 women per class.
The program includes Jobs for Life training, GED and College Prep, computer skills, resume writing, interview practice, money management, healthy boundaries, decision-making, health and wellness, parenting, and more.
Today, The Mosaic Center is sustained by 6 dedicated staff members (4 full-time, 2 part-time), 17 board members, and over 300 volunteers each year. Most importantly, we are upheld by the faithful provision of God. His blessings have been abundant, and we give all glory to Him
for the lives transformed through this ministry.
Every graduate, every volunteer, and every transformation is proof of God’s faithfulness.
From a whispered prayer in 2003
to a thriving ministry today — this is God’s story, and we give Him all the glory.
